RCMUN XI

FEBRUARY 19th, 2022

About RCMUN

What is RCMUN?
RCMUN, or Red Cedar Model United Nations, is the middle school Model U.N. conference hosted by the Michigan State University Model United Nations organization. MSUMUN is an on-campus organization of Michigan State University with 501(c)(3) non-profit status, ran entirely by undergraduate students.

Born out of a desire to bring the world of Model U.N. to an even younger audience, RCMUN is celebrating its 11th anniversary under the guidance of an outstanding Secretary-General, Emily Douponce. This year's RCMUN will prove to be the best one yet.

From the Desk of the Secretary-General

Esteemed advisors, delegates and staff;

It is my great honor and privilege to announce the eleventh session of Red Cedar Model United Nations (RCMUN). My name is Emily Douponce and this will be my second year serving as Secretary-General of RCMUN. I look forward to seeing new and familiar faces this year!

This session,  RCMUN will preside on February 19th, 2022. Staff and Secretariat have been working diligently to develop diverse and innovative committees to ensure a conference that brings growth in MUN skills for people of all interests.

When looking at the future of RCMUN XI, the main priority is the safety of delegates, advisors, and staffers. Secretariat and I have decided to host RCMUN as a hybrid conference. We are offering both an in-person and virtual option for delegates! If your delegation attends in-person, it will be held at Case Hall on Michigan State University’s campus. We understand the amount of time, work, and effort that each person dedicates to this organization, and thank you for your commitment and patience. In order to successfully be in-person by spring semester, Secretariat and Staff are taking the needed precautions to finally welcome you all back to MSU for another great conference.

Last year, RCMUN’s tenth session brought a variety of unique committees that were well received by delegates and staffers alike. Overall, the past few years of RCMUN lessened its focus on history and politics, opening the world of MUN to students with any interest. In the coming conference, it is my goal to further increase diversity and welcome more students of all backgrounds and interests.

To make this conference truly exceptional, I look forward to working closely with advisors and delegates. To that end, my Secretariat and myself are available to support your teams in any way possible. Like in years past, we are offering outreach programs to help students grow in public speaking, research, writing, and anything else you may need. To sign up for this service, simply fill out the outreach portion of our website. For any questions regarding outreach, feel free to contact Undersecretary-General of Operations, Harnoor Kaur, at operations@msumun.org.

I cannot stress enough how thrilled I am to see what staffers, advisors, and delegates create for this year’s conference. Although last year brought much uncertainty, Staffers and Secretariat are working our absolute hardest to create the most enjoyable, yet educational conference we can. I look forward to seeing you at RCMUN XI, whether it be online or in-person!

Kind Regards,

Emily Douponce
