The Washington Monument. Washington D.C. The entire state of Washington. These places wouldn’t be called what they are if it weren’t for one man in particular: George Washington. But, what if there was no Washington during the American Revolution? What would it be like to form a nation without such a foundational leader, who shaped how the country would run long after his presidency?
It is 1777, and the poster child for powdered wigs and false teeth, otherwise known as George Washington, unexpectedly dies. In the midst of the American Revolution, his death complicates the plans of the American war effort– without his leadership, The Revolutionary War Council will have to fight for desperately needed French support, deal with supply shortages, funding issues, and above all else, determine what this burgeoning new nation will look like when, or even if, it gains independence. But, without one of their fiercest leaders, how will the revolution carry on?
Now, the power is in your hands. Supporters of the war from all walks of life must act as a joint body that will deal with country morale after the death of a beacon of hope, on top of determining military strategy for fighting the British, and debate what ideologies will shape the nation they have risked it all for.
