To be eligible for an award, all delegates are required to write position papers at least 250 words or longer. For GA and specialized committees, position papers should be about 250 words for the topic. For crisis committees, papers should be 250 words, written from the viewpoint of the character or country. Sample positions can be found below.
This year we are asking for position papers to be emailed to the respective committee email. All committee e-mail addresses can be found under the committees tab on our website and in the background guide. If you have any committee specific inquiries, feel free to direct those to the committee emails as well. The Chair or Crisis Director will be happy to help!
Position Papers are the culmination of your research and preparation for a Model United Nations conference. At RCMUN, position papers are required to be eligible for a committee award.
Position papers are a report written by each delegate that will outline your country’s position on the issues to be discussed in your committee or cabinet. Your position paper should attempt to answer the following questions: What is the history of the problem? What has the international community done about this problem? What does my country hope to achieve in committee to solve the problem? Who will be willing to help and who will stand in my way to achieve this goal?
If you would like to receive feedback on your position paper, it is due Friday, January 26th, 2025. If you would like to be eligible for an award, with no feedback, the position paper is due Saturday, February 3rd, 2025.
